Rickenbacker Bass Guitar
What's a good bass guitar?
I've been taking lessons and playing bass for a while now with a small group, and I'd say I'm pretty good at this point. I practice on a squire that I'm borrowing from a friend when I'm on my own, but when I play with the group I play a rickenbacker (I'm not sure of the exact model). I think it's time for me to get my own bass. I'm really serious about this, but I'm not sure what would be a good bass for me. I have a few ideas of what makes a good instrument, and I know I want a five string, not four. I want to try to get something for under $1,000, and I want something that has a good sound for 60's rock and roll but can work for other genres as well if needed. I just don't want something ugly sounding or that only works for heavy metal or modern rock. Any suggestions?
Try a Fender 2008 American Standard Jazz Bass V.
Very versatile and will fit what you'll be playing.

i want to make my own bass guitar.......?
preferably a Rickenbacker 4003, does anyone know any webpages or sources of information. i need either the dimensions or a template.
E-mail (Or snail mail if they're not online) Ric and see if they'll send you a copy of the prints to build your own....Most Guitar companies are pretty cool about that sort of thing if it's just a regular person trying to do it.

FYI: I got the prints for the Ironbird Guitar FREE directly from B.C. Rich and built it from the bottom up....AND...I paid $75 For the prints to the Telecaster again directly from Fender!! So it does happen!! Anyway for the guy asking the question You should try contacting Ric...All they can say is no.
