Identify Beatle Bass Clone?
At my local guitar shop, there is a violin bass looking near identical to this-

The man working there told me it was a Vega. It has the exact headstock, and the
"25 cent quarters" on the pickups, yet the knobs on this are black with a white capital V. Now my searching Google for a Vega violin bass turns up nothing. My Googling Univox violin basses come up with several style that do not look like this. The model in the shop does not have "JAPAN" stamped on it. I have not received an answer from the blogger as to this truly being a Univox or not.
Well, I couldn't find you a picture but, that guys story checks out. Vega Guitars was in competition with Univox guitars at that time.
In 1933, the first Vega guitar was introduced to the market. A high quality guitar for its time, the guitar consisted of a hand carved top, and a steel-reinforced neck. A new sensation was created in music with the Electrovox electric guitar, which was the second guitar presented in assembly in 1936. Nearly a decade later, the Vega guitar company created much competition with other guitar companies with the creation of two more guitars; the Duo-Tron and Supertron. Both the Duo-Tron and Super-Tron guitars housed mounted controls and output jacks, proving that Vega guitars were ahead in the game.
